SIM225 and Renesas YLCDRX63N(E) SHIPv5 Installation

From Serious Documentation
Jump to: navigation, search

If you've programmed your SIM225 with older SHIPEngine firmware (prior to SHIPEngine v5.0.107) or experimented with C programming on your SIM, the instructions here can be performed to complete factory-reset your SIM225 and install the latest SHIPEngine v5.0.107+ firmware.

While the YLCDRX63N is a Renesas development kit, it is capable of running SHIPEngine since it's functionally equivalent to a SIM225. The YLCDRX63NE adds the YDBENETPMOD I/O expansion board which does not require programming. The YLCDRX63N is the SIM225-equivalent board with the MCU that will need to be programmed. Please detach the YLCDRX63N from the I/O expansion board before continuing with the instructions below.

Once you have SHIPEngine v5.0.107+ with associated boot loaders installed on your SIM/YLCDRX63N, you can then update any of your firmware from within SHIPTide.

The process below is a one-time (we agree, somewhat-painful) process, so if you run into difficulties just Contact Us.

Required Elements

  1. A Microsoft Windows 7 or 8.x-based PC
  2. USB cable for connecting the PC to the SIM225/YLCDRX63N

You'll also need to download the the complete installer package...
